Thank you so much for all your messages of support and best wishes. You have confirmed my decision to have you as friends! I hope you’re all happy with yourselves; you made me tearful.
When we’ve got ourselves settled a bit you’re all coming over to visit. Although we haven’t really decided on anything yet, so you never know, you might be coming over to, say, Venezuela. Or maybe Alaska. No, probably not Alaska. The bears have put a price on The Honker’s head. I can never return.
Once again thanks for all your lovely messages and support. Not just now, but all through the ride. The loneliness was the one thing I hated on this trip, and receiving messages from you was the highlight of any day.
I will keep blogging here for a bit until I set up kiwipete.com or bakingdownunder.com or maybe penniless-bum-on-the-street.com if things don’t work out!
All my love and pip pip!
Pete

Finally! At last! Commitment! Engagement! Marriage….Kids and the rest of your life…. it’s been a very long adolescence!! Longer than all of ours and you can feel good that you didn’t give up early.
Bridget is gorgeous …I told you so many times …. even in Antigua many years ago …… finally you’ve got it ….. never did understand why she put up with old, grumpy Pete anyway …. must be luuuuuuve….. go for it before it’s too late!
Best of luck and do stay in touch.
John
I dont think its pip pip any more Pete, i think its honk honk!
Enjoy planning chapter 2, and dont be a stranger eh?
Pete,
just got back from several weeks off.
It was brill to catch your news and particularly your last post about missing bridget and wanting to set up home.
Fi and I were both “oooing” (not with a “lets av it” ravy davy gravy style) but genuine happiness for you (both). It made such a lovely ending to our holiday, let alone your break.Luv n hugs n stuff x
Pete! Haven’t checked your blog since I came back from hols and then went to Germany last week. Really pleased for you and Bridget, are you there yet? Can’t say I’m surprised, far too much impromptu crying from ‘happiness’ for my liking! Have you taken the bike with you, or is it padlocked to a lampost in San Fransisco. And if it is, can I have it? (cue sunset shot of small, cute bear nervously approaching bike on Golden Gate Bridge and sniffing the Honker)
Remember, Pete n’ Bridge’s ‘Pie In The Sky’ artisan bakery is at least 5% mine (cue cheesy shot of Pete in Robin’s Nest style bra and suspenders apron turning over ‘Open’ sign on bakery door, cut to Bridget feeding Junior and drinking from ‘Welcome to Alaska’ mug).
Give us a shout when you’re settled, and the best of luck to both of you.
Best Wishes,
Steve, Toni, Owen & Rachael
Pete!
Wow – what a brilliant decision. Hamish and I were inspired (and perplexed) by your journey but relieved and happy that you have chosen to follow your heart instead of the 101. Remember that the wise man sits on the back seat of a tandem and enjoys the ride.
We finished our trip safely and are now back in Blighty enjoying the English summer… We wish you the best of luck and all the happiness in the word. My heart is in NZ so we may meet in a roadside cafe again yet.
Yours,
Jon Crighton
Jon/Hamish!
How was the kite surfing? Good to meet you in… in? Well wherever it was. Please pop in when you come to NZ. A bed or a floor awaits you. At some point in the future the journey will continue, but with Bridget and probably an engine!
All the best and keep flying!
Pete
