Ok, I know what you’re waiting for… Here it is! BEARD CAM!!!
Ok it’s more Stubble Cam at the moment, but isn’t it exciting just watching it grow!
Today was a day of ups and downs, highs and more highs. A lot of hills. But I’m getting used to them now and just grind them out. And then it’s weeeee all the way down the other side! But seriously, it really is weeeee all the down the other side! I’m in Tok now waiting for the rain to stop then head off to Fast Eddies for something to eat. I’ll let you know…
And here is one of the main reasons for coming up here. Moose!
This one just taking a dip. No one wants a stinky moose.
I had a bit of a moment today: I was pedaling along a dead straight bit of highway just enjoying the cycling and on comes Duelling Banjos on the iPod. At first I’m just smiling at the whole backwoodsy irony of the situation, but then I realize everything has come together in a perfect little moment and I’m nearly in tears about where I am, what I’m doing and how getting off your arse and fulfilling a dream is what this life is all about. Like I say, a perfect little moment. Go and get yours.
Love
Pete
I wonder if that Moose afterward warned his friends about the pervert lurking in the bushes taking pictures of him bathing!?
Also, you say ‘Duelling Banjos’, I bet it was really ‘Highway to the Dangerzone’ (-Top Gun)
I’m getting heavily addicted to cycling myself, eyeing up an new roadbike (just for special occasions), just trying to justify spending that much though and do i really need three bikes??
Hope the rain stays away for you mate, really do.
Ride safely. clunk clip every trip (although never trusted Jimmy Saville, strange, strange man)

Highway to the Dangerzone!? At the speed I’m crawling along at? Think more theme tune to Steptoe & Son ( YouTube it, you whippersnapper!)
Not sure if you got my email, but how’d you get on with the London to Brighton? Tell me everything. With pictures.
“getting off your arse and fulfilling a dream is what this life is all about.”
Amen to that.
Really enjoying keeping up with your blog posts – glad to hear its all going well. make sure and keep up with the regular updates!
By the way… I think I may have mentioned this to you before you left, but there’s another guy I worked with (another Archvis CG artist) who has done pretty much the same as you , i.e. got on his bike and is taking the trip he always wanted to take, although he’s heading Eastward through Europe – he also has blog, so if you have a spare 5 minutes out of the saddle and you fancy checking out the ramblings of a like minded fellow, his blog can be found here:

All the best!

Yep Mooses are good and thats a great photo. But I notice that in a few days you’ll be crossing the boundary into Canadia and it seems the first place you’ll get to is “Beaver Creek”. Yes, Beaver Creek.
I can’t wait.

Ahh, I felt all teary there for a minute…me, you and your little moment all together in a surprisingly confined space, given the several thousand miles that separate us!
Back to reality with a bump as James appears behind me with the offer of a cuppa (you know what I mean, thousands of others will get the wrong idea!). Coombes, I’m bloody happy for you – just wish I could be there, frantically pedalling in your slip stream!!!!!
Take care buddy, this thing is an adventure for me too!!

Lovely blog which raised a few bits of cloudiness to my already scuppered/squinty eyes. Just to share – today I also had a dream day. Got a job performing in Edinburgh at my dream place in August – the Pleasance, one of the best venues – being paid (the first time I’m paid properly for a theatre job) and moreover my favourite camera job (Not Going Out) also appeared on a repeat via proper telly. I know you think my chosen profession apparently isn’t creative…but I’ll let you stick to that until you veer another way or are unexpectedly stabbed with no clear evidence…
Much love, jealousy and appreciation of what you’re doing!

It all sounds great. I’m right behind you. Just got to wait for the daughter to leave home, oh, and pay the massive mortgage off. Glad to hear the MOD have finally been of some use to someone. Make sure the Americans don’t get their hands on those maps. They may think your a special agent or something.
Carry on!

After the photo did you strip off and try moose swimming? I understand its the alaskan equivelent of cow tipping but watch out for those antlers. apart from the batteries hows the rest of the kit holding up. Obviously the razors busted already and you havn’t found one of those mountain roadside cuthroat gents barbers yet. How long is the beard going to get?
Back in Antibes after Tunisia and back home via capri. (hard slog up the hill on the Funicular for some of the 4500 cals I require to keep expanding. )
keep the posts coming bro and just say the word and me and a big motorbike will be with you all the way.
love you
Samc
All electronics working well. The whole dynamo hub/rechargeable battery is brilliant. I’ve also bought a Garmin edge 705 GPS cycle computer ( which is where I’m getting all my calorie info from). It not only tells me which bit of the middle of nowhere I am, but also tells me my heart rate and cycling cadence. It might not be useful at the moment, but come the post mortem this info will be essential. And just think of the PowerPoint presentation!
Beard Cam is great – especially with the bonus “Blue Steel” app 😉
Your trip looks and sounds amazing – am so jealous and as we say in Oz, Good on ya, mate!
hey pete, just trying to catch up with your blog: you are flying!
thanks for sharing your “getting off your arse moment”. just remember it when your crawling uphill soon again ;O) lot’s of love to you, janax
